We can’t expect something from them unless we do something for it.
As grown-ups and learners in a state university, everyone is expected to be independent enough to step on their own. Because not everything you need will be spoon fed nor given easily.
Having different means and ways to mold each student in their chosen craft, several perceptions and questions are raised. Some of it might be true while the rest possibly exaggerated. There are a lot of insight that triggers one’s mind to be aware of the reality that one has to be independent enough in conquering his battle in this wide world.
But for one case where the educator is literally just doing the reading way using some hand-outs or the like, what do you expect from his students? Especially if the subject is really important to one’s course, it will end up to murmurs after class. Even worse is that there is nothing to ponder at because nothing was acquired at all.
So as a student aiming for a brighter career, his knowledge has to be beneficial to suffice his aspirations and that could only be done if he learned the things he should. At the same time be more independent and practical because that is what professional life is all about. Learning on your own and making such change that does not written in any text book.
True enough that the world between a student and a teacher is like a huge market wherein the student plays as the demand while the teacher is the supply to have a product. There must be a balance beam. No more, no less. Direct and straight.
In the end, just sort out the things both party need and the things given to every student must be useful. It’s not just about the papers or words inside a text from a book. But a wisdom that could reflect what a person the student would become in the near future.
