Mamasapano, Maguindanao encounters channelled in CAL’s 3rd TINTAgisan ‘15

As part of the college’s week celebration, Bulacan State University-College of Arts and Letters (BulSU-CAL) recently held its 3rd installment of TINTAgisan, a press conference open to its CAL students, Federizo Hall, February 17.
This year’s theme was “Pagpapahayag ng Katotohanan sa Malayang Mapagpalayang Panulat at Larawan” to give honour to the Fallen 44 of Mamasapano Encounter and Maguindanao Massacre.
“Ang kaibahan nito [sa] last year, mayroon itong specific topic. Inspired ito sa Mamasapano tragedy at Maguindanao massacre. ‘Yong key point na malayang pagpapahayag para sa press, tayo ‘yong nagpapalaya ng katotohanan,” claims John Roniel Canimo, Head Organizer of the press conference.
Open to all courses under CAL, the writing contest comprises of different categories: News Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, Opinion Writing and Photojournalism. The said competition features both English and Filipino as language medium.
In line with this, Jeaneth Panti, editor-in-chief of Pacesetter, the official student publication of Bulacan State University and a judge in the news writing category, expressed, “The way I see it, it is a call and challenge for every journalist to express the truth. Pero hindi doon natatapos. To be able to embody its meaning, we should be accountable at panindigan na responsable tayo sa larangang ito.”
Awarding for the top three winning pieces in the given categories were announced at the College Night in February 20, Kalinangan Gymnasium at the La Consolacion University Philippines in Malolos. The winners received certificates and medals provided by the Communiqué, the student publication of the College of Arts and Letters.
