College of Arts and Letters students enjoyed the Hollywood theme for this year’s CAL Night, February 20, 2015, Friday at La Consolacion University in Malolos, Bulacan.
Ma. Dayanara Andus of BAJ-3A who grabbed the Ms. CAL Night award, shared her preparations from her WonderWoman costume to her hair and make-up.
‘Tas tumawag ako and umorder na. Pinareserve ko siya. Tas bago mag CAL Night nagpakulay ako ng buhok, pinaghandaan ko talaga”, she said.
Andus said that she never expected to win the title that night because she saw that there are a lot of students who also gave their best for their costumes. She only wished that she will be chosen for the top ten so all her efforts in her costume will be worth it.
Hollywood movies won’t be colorful and complete if there are no major villains in the story that will make the lives of protagonists miserable. Perfect example is Angelina Jolie’s famous character as Malifecent that inspired the outfits of some CAL students like Rena Marie Flores, a third year Broadcasting student.
She said that her costume was her second dress in her debut last January. She just added a cape and horns to perfectly portray Maleficent.
“It was a blast. The theme was perfection. You can see everyone's creativity through their costumes. Seeing everyone wearing those unique attires makes you actually enjoy the night,” Flores said.
CAL Night is also the night to recognize excellent and talented students of College of Arts and Letters. The Night was also significant to young film makers of CAL as the major awards for SiBul Film Festival were given.
The film “Aba Ginoong Sino” grabbed the Best Film. Winners from the raffle draw, Tintagisan and Media Olympics were also announced. Freshmen and sophomore students showed their singing and dancing skills in the production competitions.
Meanwhile, Teresa Santos, main organizer of this year’s CAL Night told that the event was very successful.
Pero yung totality ng ating CAL Night, it was a success”, she concluded.
