BulSu holds First RevUp Philippines

In celebration of Student Rights Week and International Students Day, Bulacan State University (BulSu) was one of the partner schools across the country that held the first ever RevUp Philippines, November 10-14, 2014.
RevUp is a weeklong activity initiated by National Union of Students of the Philippines that aims to empower the students to their rights and educate them about the current status of education in the country. It is also a break for student leadership training among the attendees.
“Sobrang nakakatuwa kasi first time na nagkaroon ng ganoon kalaking event dito sa BulSu. First time din kasi ‘yung RevUp. First time ‘yung RevUp sa Pilipinas. First time din sa Bulacan na magather yung ganong kalaking delegates from different schools.” Krizza Garcia, coordinator of NUSP.
Among the invited schools to participate the event was Centro Escolar University, La Consolation University of the Philippines and Baliuag University together with the organizations within BulSu.
Solidarity messages from the participants started the event held at BulSu Heroes Park.
On the second day, Charlotte Velasco from League of Filipino Students tackled the effects of the ASEAN integration on students and the need for nationalist, scientific and mass oriented education held at the BulSu College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Audio Visual Room. Students on gender and women’s rights marked the third day. Lovely Carbon, Secretary General of NUSP discoursed the topic at the BulSu Hostel. Then the following day, Sarah Ilago of NUSP and Mark Avila of College Editors Guild of the Philippines expound the subject on upholding student democratic rights and welfare and students in nation building at BulSu Activity Center.
The celebration concluded at the University of the Philippines where participants together with those of the other provinces gather. Almost 200 students came and joined the historic event.
