"You cannot please everybody", the saying goes.
Cliche as it can be, it still remains a fact up to this very moment. In everything that you do others will always have something to say. It may be positive or negative, but one thing's for sure; you have no control of what others will say about you. Words are powerful, it can make you feel better or break you into pieces.
Mary Engelbert once said that if do not like something change it. If you cannot change it, change the way you think about it. You should not let the ghost of the past trouble you. It's just a matter of perspective.
Avoiding those negative feedbacks are really hard but you can always do something to make it work. Here are some tips you might find helpful.
1. Focus on what you can control.
There is nothing you can do about others' way of thinking, but you always have a choice on how you will deal with them. Avoid doing something that can heighten the tension. These kind of people are not worth the drama.
2. Reminisce about the good times.
Remember that if good days are not permanent, so are those gloomy days. Thinking about those good times can make you feel better knowing that some time in the past you were bothered, but the sun rose up for you and brought you those happy days.
3. Talk about it.
Ranting is one way to lessen up the hype of one's emotion. Just know whom your story is worth sharing with. You might not want to catch the limelight of rumors for sharing it with the wrong person.
4. Go to bed earlier.
Studies show that persons who has enough sleep wakes up with a lighter mood, causing a clearer perspective on whatever might or should happen along the day.
5. Smile.
Negativity attracts negativity. Smiling brightens your face and lifts your mood creating a positive aura that radiates in your face and that is something contagious- in a good way. It would be nice being able to pass on the good vibes to someone who is experiencing a bad day.
Choose to be with those who bring the best in you instead of the stress in you. Again, there will always be haters and there is nothing you can do to please these people. If that is your goal, you are not pleasing anybody, not even yourself.
